HM Day 9
Off Off Roading cont’d
The old church from 1750 built by the Spanish on native indigenous burial grounds to make it sacred to the natives. It overlooks the ocean behind it. Cute huh?
HM Day 9
Off Off Roading cont’d
We made it to a secret beach. It was between two cliffs with rock overhangs so we could picnic in the shade. The waves crash pretty hard here, but it makes the finest sand either of us has ever felt. We stayed here for awhile and only two people ever showed up. We really didn’t know where we were, but it was awesome!
HM Day 9
Off Off Roading cont’d
We half way hiked through these giant rock formations. These were sacred to natives, and there are ancient handpainted drawings somewhere on these cliffs. The trick is, you have to walk up steps and crawl between boulders to get to them. Problem is that there are wasp nests all over inside the areas you have to crawl through. With such small caves, and such a big Wes, he was bound to make some wasps very angry if we tried to keep going. Regardless the stones themselves were amazing.
HM Day 9
Off Off Roading
We rented a jeep today to drive across the undeveloped north coast if the island. This was Cathy’s first off-roading experience, and boy was it a doozey. We went to and abandoned gold mine, old church from 1750, a secret beach, and many other places off of the off-road map that finally gave us a flat tire! pics to follow!
